Charity Moore co-founded a breastfeeding support group for women of color in the Birmingham area. She’s assisted over 300 mothers with breastfeeding advice and support. Black women are the least likely group to breastfeed, receive proper education to breastfeed successfully and they have the highest infant mortality rates as a result.
Charity is on track to becoming the first, Black Certified Professional Midwife in Birmingham and possibly the entire state. She recognizes the need and urgency for black birth workers in low income communities as black women are 236% more likely to die in childbirth. Through her work with Chocolate Milk Mommies, Charity spearheaded a community baby shower program, which over the last 2 years has provided critical need supplies to almost 150 families in the Birmingham Metro area.
