Loretta Herring is the Co-founder and CEO of The Cancer Awareness Network for Children Incorporated. Loretta and her sisters founded the organization in 1997, after their mother lost her battle with cancer in 1998. A few years later, Loretta was diagnosed with a stage zero breast cancer. Throughout the course of her treatment Loretta began recognizing the lack of comparable resources afforded to communities of color. With the increasing need for effective change, Loretta fearlessly rose to the occasion by consistently lobbying for cancer survivorship awareness on the local, state, and national levels. Her tenacity and excitement captured the attention of judicial lawmakers, medical corporations and community associations.
